Felicity was grateful to all her sisters for taking turns covering the gift shop so she could prepare Stone and Dandy for the avalanche rescue training. However, it did come at a cost. Even though she rarely spoke of it, Molly, Avery and Ruby were all very aware of her past with Trevor and the heartache she’d gone through, and they knew just how real her fear of avalanches was.

But that didn’t stop them from teasing her about her relationship with Stone.

All of them remembered her goofy teenage crush on him and couldn’t help rubbing it in now. It was embarrassing when they brought up the way she’d acted back then, but Felicity couldn’t exactly deny it. She had been a typical angst-ridden teenager with her head in the clouds, melting like butter any time Stone was near.

As for her feelings for Stone now, she couldn’t figure them out even within her own heart, much less be able to talk about them to others. What a muddled mess. She definitely didn’t need her well-meaning but nosy sisters playing matchmakers.

Today, when Stone drove up to the A New Leash on Love facility parking lot, Felicity was already outside and, as usual, thoroughly bundled up for the weather. As she waited, she ran Tugger through various agility obstacles, more so Felicity could jog around and warm herself up than to relieve Tugger of his puppy energy. She took him up and down the A-frame and through a tunnel and then over a series of jumps, one after the other.

Stone hopped out of his truck and encouraged Dandy to do the same. As usual, Stone was only dressed in jeans and a long-sleeved Western shirt, winter hiking boots and a cowboy hat. She had given up trying to convince him he was going to freeze to death without a coat. Evidently his muscles worked like a jacket would because he certainly never complained about the cold, even when she felt it was freezing outside.

His grin was welcoming, and Felicity couldn’t help but smile back at him, her heart welling. No matter how confused her emotions were, there was no doubt Stone was an exceptionally handsome man, just as he always had been.

“That looks fun,” Stone said, gesturing toward the agility course. “Do all the dogs know how to do that?”

“It is fun,” she agreed. “And yes, Dandy knows his way around the course. Maybe if you and Dandy still have some energy left at the end of the day you can try it out. But we have other fun things to do today first.”

“Fun is always good in my book, as you well know. What’s up first?” He reached down and scratched Dandy’s ears.

The dog was heeling at Stone’s left side without so much as a command, which thrilled Felicity to see. She didn’t think Stone realized how far they’d come in such a short time and just what a great team he and Dandy made.

“We’re going to play hide-and-seek.”

“Awesome. I’m just warning you, though.
